Kari Wheeler, MSN, RN, PMHNP-BC

Kari is a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to enhancing mental health through thoughtful assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. She holds Bachelor of Science degrees in both psychology and nursing and graduated summa cum laude in 2024 from Frontier Nursing University with a Master of Science in Nursing.
Kari employs a comprehensive, wellness-focused approach tailored to each client, incorporating medication management, psychotherapy, and lifestyle modification support. Her initial interest in mental health was sparked during her psychology studies when she developed an interest in humanistic and positive psychology. She then began her career as a Montessori teacher for young children, which fostered her passion for nurturing growth and development in others. She later transitioned to nursing, specializing in maternal health and lactation as an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Witnessing mental health struggles and the shortage of mental health services in the community she served inspired her to pursue advanced practice nursing in psychiatric-mental health.
Kari is licensed to provide mental health care throughout the lifespan. She is certified in medication-assisted therapy (MAT) for opioid use disorder and committed to ongoing education, with personal interests in mindfulness and complementary and integrative medicine. Respecting the autonomy, diversity, and innate drive to heal and flourish, Kari strives to offer personalized care that honors each individual’s journey as they navigate life transitions and mental health challenges.
